Salt pig

My wife and I were recently in a cooking store shopping for a gift and I found myself looking at all the funky salt-pigs...for me.

Some people like ankle boots, some people like glitz and glam; I like salt pigs. I was trying to explain my appreciation for them to my friend Pete after my wife gave in and bought me one as a gift. I don’t think Pete understands.

Pete: What’s that?

Me: A salt pig!

Pete: Um, what?!

How’s Your Sodium Sense?

I wouldn't say I'm a "gamer", but I do enjoy video games. Especially multiplayer ones… online with my friends… Tuesday nights… with our headsets on (ya, we're cool, I know).

This is where we reconnect through talking about our feelings (trash talking and goading each other), sharing (yelling instructions to our teammates) and encouraging each other (inviting buddies to join the game so we can pwn them).

So, you can imagine my joy when I learned Healthy Families BC had developed a new online interactive resource, Sodium Sense.

I have an admission to make: I don't know everything. This includes the physiology of oysters, other bivalves, or basically anything that lives in the ocean. This came out rather comically in a recent blog meeting:

Kenton: "Are there foods high in sodium that might be a surprise for people?"

Joanna: "What about seafood?"

Kenton: "Seafood isn't high in sodium."

Joanna: "Even though it lives in salt water?"
