I’m only a week or two into this new routine and even though my legs are sore, I feel better. My energy levels are up and I find that I get a double benefit because when I’ve exercised, I don’t want to eat more!

I contacted the experts at Dietitian Services, and they were really helpful. I honestly didn’t think that the dietary advice would be as valuable as I’ve already found it. + MORE

Second to Christmas, this really is "the most wonderful time of the year". Summer has finally turned on the heat and the fall harvest is coming in. The problem is that the bounty of the harvest all comes at once. What do you do with 20 pounds of berries? Home food preservation solves the ‘problem’ of an abundant harvest. If your image of home food preservation includes bags of sugar and hours spent sweating over a hot pot of water sterilizing jars then you might be surprised at how easy and cool it can be.

Kid Approved Open Face Tuna Sandwich with Pesto

This may sound like an odd combination but, give it a try - it's delicious!

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

2 tbsp (30 mL)  basil pesto4 slices whole-grain or multigrain bread, toasted1 can (7 ½ oz or 213 g) water-packed light tuna, drained and flaked1 large tomato, cut into 4 slices1 red onion, sliced (optional)½ cup (125 mL) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Berry Bonanza

Many of us have happy memories of sitting in strawberry fields as children with our families, eating more of the ripe red fruit than we save. For me, it wasn't long ago that I was tromping around the tundra of the Northwest Territories with elders, children and friends, laughing and picking cranberries in the midnight sun. Somehow berries taste different when you pick them yourself.

Maybe it is the smell of the fresh air or the warmth of the sun, but it just feels good to be connected to the land. + MORE
